I just had another thought from reading your title. ;)

Looking at it from the systems perspective, the world does not give up on those who help in achiving its goals.

All things being parts, or subsystems of the Universe and Nature, cannot exclude from adhering to the overarching system's fundamental laws.

When you steer away from those, you only receive a correction to help you get back on course. Excuses come from your ego, telling you it's not your fault, when the only thing that you can (always) do is change yourself.
