I think that all imbalances in Nature, caused by such dying out of numerous vital organisms, force the system and all its parts (suborganisms) to find a solution to recover the balance.
When species die-out, new ones take their place/role/function.
Nature as an organism/living system has perfect(ed) self-correcting mechanisms.

Not that I want to say that we can continue thrashing and polluting our own habitat.
